HIP PAIN PROGRAM
This program is specifically designed for people experiencing hip (gluteal) pain, tightness or injury. The Hip Pain program is conducted over 4-weeks and focuses on improving mobility of the joints and strengthening the surrounding muscles. It is a proven fact that pain and injury can be greatly improved by exercise and movement. Many hip problems stem from repetitive use (increase in frequency, intensity or duration of certain activities), and are also common in middle-aged women.
Working 1 on 1 with Kerri Layton, an Exercise Scientist and Myotherapist, you will be carefully guided towards becoming stronger and more mobile, while learning more about your body. You will learn to manage and overcome your hip issues.
THIS PROGRAM IS FOR YOU IF:
You struggle with hip (gluteal) pain or injury you are unable to resolve.
You have had to stop or reduce your regular physical activity due to hip pain.
You get hip pain when sleeping or doing day to day activities..
You would like to use the program as a preventative measure to avoid future hip problems.
You would like to improve overall strength & mobility.
THE 4 WEEK PROGRAM
Upon booking, you will be sent a participant screening form which you will fill in prior to your first session. You will then participate in 4 x 50min 1 on 1 sessions over 4 weeks.
WEEK 1: ASSESS & TREAT
The first session will be spent assessing your movement and using manual therapy to release fascia and muscle around the areas we will be working on. This provides a framework for the remaining sessions, by assessing your movement and mobility a personalised program for your particular needs can be developed.
WEEEK 2: MOBILITY & FLEXIBILITY
The focus of the second session is to improve movement of the joints through specific mobility and movement exercises. These exercises are gentle and can be performed by anyone, all movements have modifications depending on your level. Many people with hip pain often find everyday movements painful or uncomfortable. We will work towards restoring movement which is so important and the first step towards overcoming your pain.
WEEK 3: STRENGTH & RELEASE
The third session begins the process of strengthening the muscles of the hips and surrounding areas. Strength is vital in the recovery of injury and pain but also for bone strength which rapidly declines as we get older. The strength exercises are mostly using your own bodyweight but they may include the use of bands and light dumbbells if required.
We will also go through some targeted release exercises using the foam roller or spiky ball. The benefit of release work is significant, especially if you experience a flare up in the future. It can also be used effectively to manage existing pain or injury.
WEEK 4: MOBILITY & STRENGTH COMBINED
This session will consolidate sessions 2 & 3 by integrating both mobility & body strength for the hips. This session can be filmed on your iPhone (optional), so you have the program for future reference.

FEEDBACK
I've gained so much from the two sessions. My glute/hamstring tightness is a lot better. So much so that I could jog today with more mobility of movement and hardly any pain. Lorraine A
Attending Kerri’s classes has been of real benefit. As well as addressing general mobility and flexibility, the exercises have help ease my lower back pain. Kerri provides a warm and encouraging atmosphere that makes the challenges surmountable. Anna
OMG, how much looser do my neck, middle back and shoulders feel? And that rotator cuff…I knew it was bad but goodness, that stretch using the chair and sliding hips from left to right. I’ll be keeping that in my repertoire, for sure. Linda K
I have found both my time in the Clinic & the Exercise Classes very beneficial for helping my body heal from injury & impairment. Carolyn
